NPR just put up news of medical research published by JAMA that shocked researchers.
The study followed 7,000 people for four years to check the relationship between life purpose and mortality.
The people without a strong sense of life purpose were significantly more likely to die than those who had a purpose.
In fact, having a sense of purpose had more impact on longevity than even exercise or smoking.
"The need for meaning and purpose is Number 1. Its the deepest drive of well-being there is" according to one of the researchers.
Personally, I'm not one bit surprised. From my work with people all over the world, I see the profound impact that connecting to one's purpose has on all aspects of life.
